Vintage
mini-perfume enameled holder with glass vial
This
small, scarce vintage treasure is an intricately enameled metal body that
holds an intact glass perfume vial. It is not marked and could be either
Czech or French, though it is certainly circa pre-World War II. I purchased
this from a dealer in Czechoslovakia.
The
enamel and metal work are truly gorgeous, featuring circles with small
white and bluish-green/gray dots. The sides have metal scrollwork, the
back is plain.
It
measures 2 inches tall and 1 1/4 inches wide. The metal lid easily slides
off to reveal the glass vial which can then be pulled out of the holder.
The vial and glass dauber are in excellent shape and still retain some
perfume. Originally,
a small chain secured the metal enameled lid to the body.
You can see a very similar bottle on page 69 of Verna Kocken's book "Perfume
Bottles for Purse and Dresser." This would be an incredible holiday
gift for any serious perfume bottle collector!
